It was nice to have a gig close to home
. We only had to drive 45 minutes for tonight's gig. We got there early and watched Jimmy and the band do sound check. Jane took a couple of records for me for Jimmy to sign, thanks so much Jane xx.
We met Kerrie and had a drink then decided to line up nice and early, we were pumped to get in
The Doylo is a nice small club, I would say the auditorium would have held 1500 or so people and it was a sell out, which is awesome.
Kerrie, Chloe and I were the first through the doors and got a nice possy right at the front
There were 2 support bands tonight, and omg they were bad lol
First up was a young band called Saving Grace, they weren't too bad, but not exactly the right sort of band to get you pumped up for a Jimmy gig
The second band was a Newcastle band called the Blues Brothers. They played support for Jimmy earlier this year when he played at Newcastle Panthers.
Then after a short break Jimmy took the stage, the crowd went absolutely wild. Jimmy had said earlier in the week that this weekend was going to be full on Rock and he did not disappoint at all!!!!
There was a few changes in the band, it was awesome to see the return of some old players, Danny Spencer, Dario Bortolin and Tony Featherstone, and a new player Jak Housden from the Badloves. The great Warren Trot was on drums as well
There was a return tonight of some songs I haven't heard Jimmy do live in a while, Ressurrection Shuffle, Sit on my Knee and Choir Girl as well as the old faves. I will post the full set list at the end of this post.
It was an amazing show, it was so bloody hot in there but so awesome.
We hung around for a little while after the show and had a chat to Danny, Tony, Wazza and Jak. Thanks guys for signing Chloe's shirt, she has officially got everyone from the bank now, so she can frame it at last
