G'day all.
Just letting you all know that i am going to watch the Cold Chisel show at the Hoyts cinemas at Entertainment quarter tonight.
I was struggling to get the dollars together to see the show at the Horden Pavillion & i didnt want to miss out either.
Still excited about seeing the boys & whilst nothing can replace seeing them live then this little initiative will just have to do.

What a show! Best I've ever seen out of the 6 gigs I have worked or watched! Not one bum note from Jim who was SMASHING the highnotes, the band was firing and I am now convinced beyond a shadow of doubt that Charley was the perfect choice to replace the irreplacable Steve. He shows respect to Steves work and manages to rock the kit while both respecting Steves work and not just playing a carbon copy! The quality of tonight was OUTSTANDING!

Sharonweels.....I saw ya in the line for doors but never saw ya again? Since my mum was in the wheelchair riser I thought I'd have finally met ya but somehow we missed the chance again happy.gif

Fantastic show despite everybody nearly drowning in the torrential rain trying to get there. At least the Hordern's roof never leaked. I still can't work out why the show never sold out, i think they were selling tickets to walk up people at the office just before the show started.

All the usual classics plus a few off the new album. It was how i always remember things, the drinkers out at the bars outside while the support band was on, then come in when Chisel hit the stage. The support band was pretty good. I'd really love one day to get in early and get right up the front, but i don't have a cast iron bladder and would have to go for a walk at some stage and i'd lose my spot. Good luck to those that can hang in there!

I too think this is one of the best shows i have seen of recent times, the show at Port Macquarie was probably the next best of the ones of have seen recently.

I saw Mahalia Barnes there last night and i asked her how she went on the Voice show on T.V. She gave the thumbs up and said she'll be on this Sunday night's show. I wish her all the best and will be watching.

Peter.

I agree it was most probably the best CC gig I have been to. Chisel at The Hordern now that is a blast from the past.
We sat up in the stand at the back (Old Folks section)near the sound booth and the sound was unbelievable, those punters down the front need to experience a gig where the music hits you so pure it's not funny. When they did 'You Got Nothing I want' it just about blew us out of our seats, talk about turning the tempo up it, the gig lifted to another level and then stayed there.
It's a shame it's going to be a while before we are able to get more of it.

Re: Tonight.

Gutted that due to the short-sighted f'wits at Hoyts NZ that they chose not to broadcast this side of the Tasman. This was allegedly due to the time difference and that it would have to start at around 11pm, which would be too late for softy NZ Chisel fans. Very surprising given that NZ managed to pack out Vector Arena, well over 10,000 and also TSB Arena in Wellington whatever that holds, surely we could have got together a couple of hundred die hards willing to go home at 1am on a Wednesday night?

Am I being too optimistic but can't see why they can't quickly release a DVD? If we had enough camera angles and the streaming was high enough quality to charge people to view it in movie theatres then why not bang it onto a disk and sell it.

I know that myself and several others harp on about this, but we haven't had any recent high quality footage since Ringside and that was 2004. We know they are sitting on some great recordings of the V8 gig, which had extra meaning as the last big stadium show that Steve did (I won't count Deni). That is now 2 and a half years ago and still nothing. We know Light the Nitro will come out at same stage but not holding our breath, and also LWOS even if a bit raw would capture some of those great songs from that album that they probably won't play live again (I'd kill for "This time around" live).

My faith is resting in the Management team, they have done a great job so far getting some of the old stuff out there and loving the webisodes of No Plans. Hoping they are working hard to get some more live stuff out there, hopefully on Blu-ray

Tonight

Hi Juddster
Well Juddster next time we will have to arrange it a bit better. I'm still to meet the elusive Juddster. Yes thats true I did dissappear straight after the doors opened and headed to the front of the stage. So thats why you would not have been able to see me. It was funny going to the front of the stage because one of the people that worked at Hordern Pavillion tried to chase me down but I was going to quick. All he wanted which I thought was nice was to tell me that I could go to the viewing platform if I wanted to. Then I said shit no I want to stay here, he had a bit of a laugh and I thanked him.
Bye Sharon

Hey Sharon. yeah I would've taken her down the front but wasn't sure how much she'd see, and too many of my bosses (who I cannot stand) were working the barrier and would've dampened my spirits! As it was I still had a ball!

Hi Juddster
If she ever gets to the front it is best to sit side on, can see the whole stage. I have done it both ways and this is coming from experience. If you face the stage sometimes the side people are in the way. If you sit side you can see the whole stage. What tends to happen is people see a gap and think it is a space, so they come running. But I know alot of the front row people now and they all stand around me. Alot of security tell me to wave if any trouble.
Bye Sharon
