Yesterday afternoon a crazed gunman drove to a ranchy horse area of Thousand Oaks (named the safest city in the US and right next to our valley) and shot three people, two fatally, one is hospitalized in serious condition. The gunman then hijacked a truck from a man in a nearby supermarket parking lot and took off. Early this AM the perp was spotted on our road where he tried to gain entry to a neighbor's property to steal another truck. The woman there called 911 before being shot in the back of the head and her two kids were pistol-whipped. This locale is just a block from here! A sheriff arrived and his car was shot up and he received two gunshot wounds to the upper torso. The police helicopters were hovering in the skies over our property with the birds honking, quacking, gobbling and yelling, scampering for hiding places. The gunman was chased to Simi (another nearby city) where he ran into a Walmart, eventually shooting himself in the head. The news and police helicopters finally departed about noon from here and peace has been restored to the animal population. Talk about a PREDATOR ATTACK.....this ain't supposed to happen in our quiet little valley!
