As posted here previously, I have become aware of--through a correspondent--of the Internet Archive Way back Machine at...

This website claims to have listed and archived 10 billion websites dating to 1996.
I have found this extremely useful for finding numerous websites of mine that have disappeared from the internet, and I have been able to retrieve the subject information from those sites in order to again restore those sites to the Internet.
Of course, you must have the original URL in order to find them. In my own case, when I did not know the URL, I was able to go to another website where I knew that the subject URL was linked.
for the sake of curiosity, I have also found several old Marines messageboards that have gone bellyup sometime in recent years, including one of my own.
Internet Archive Wayback Machine is a very useful tool to keep in mind and have handy for those of us w/websites, and others as well.
