Our own Gary McAlpin/Major Mustang was well known for the following...
"To Die a Marine, Is to Live Forever"
The above was extant back around 1953/54, I recall, although I remember it as...
"To Die a Marine Is to Live Again"
(thought I had posted this earlier today when the board was running real slow--cannot find it now--so it may not have been posted at all)
In any case, I never did find an origin/source for either quote, specifically. There does seem to be some mention of this(paraphrased), in latter day (new age Corps), by a DI (FMJ)alluding to Marines living forever, etc., but nothing of the authentic source. Then there is the supposed words of GySgt Dan Daly--"...do you want to live forever?"
Anyone w/knowledge as to the original source of the saying please advise.
