This log was about a 15 " dia. and 28 " long.
I cut down each side to the top of the pot.

I used sidewalk chalk to draw my flowers on to give the eye an idea of what the chainsaw is to do.

We are located in Horse Country, so, I thought I would do a relief of a horse on this pot just for fun.

Here we have painted the flower with latex paint, watered down, burned the horse and will let it dry before staining the inside area of the pot,(to make it look brown like dirt), then we will put on a couple coats of Spar.

These flowers are very east to take care of, require no water or miracle grow, won't freeze and bloom all year long, year after year.

I love this idea. How long does it take to make one of these? They would be very cute sitting among the carvings at our shop. I'm trying them. Thanks, Cindy

Hi Cindy,
I probably have about 30 min carving time in these larger flowers.
See the holding smaller carvings post for a 12" flower that I did yesterday.

8 " Daisy

Hi Cindy,
I got up early to go do the real job thing and heard rain hitting the A/C, so, when you're a landscaper, it's a rain day, and when you're also a chainsaw carver, well, then it's a carving day.
Here is a pic of our last three flowers, the un-painted one ( just done this morning) is 8 1/4 inches, the one on the left is 14 inches and the big one is 28 inches tall.

Here it is with a paint job. We use exterior semi-gloss latex, then a couple coats of poly.

I have less than 10 min carving time in the smaller one, and about that long burning and painting.
