In next week's TV Guide (it has sponge bob on the cover) there are two fairly large mentions of AD.
First, there is a page on Star Style and it is entitled "Swinging 60's-Todays' hit makers to back in time on American Dreams"
"On NBC's American Dreams, chart toppers like Ashanti, LeAnn Rimes and Usher guest-star as hit musical acts from the 1960s who perform on American Bandstand. To re-create authentic looks, costume designer Chrisis Karvonides cults vintage fashion magazines, surfs the Web and watches original Bandstand footage. Check out these groovy makeovers....
Then it has pictures of Usher as Marvin Gaye,LeAnn as Connie Francis, Vanessa Carlton as Dusty Springfield and Nick Carter as Jay of Jay and the Americans (and Vivian Green who will play Brenda Holloway on this week's show) with a blurb under each picture about what the star wore.
The next mention-even more importantly is the discussion of AD in an article entitled "the 6 Best Shows You May Not Be Watching" . TV Guide does this once or twice a year to get folks to watch quality shows they feel are not being viewed in large numbers. The end of the article to start the piece says "So catch up and get with these programs-You wont' be sorry"
The six shows are Everwood,Angel, Without a Trace, AD,Alias and Boomtown. Now for the AD section-
Why You Should Watch: Feel good nostalgia, with kicky cameos of current pop stars re-creating '60s icons: LeAnn Rimes as Connie Francis, Ashanti as Dionne Warwick. Who could walk on by that?
Why You May Have Missed It: NBC's promos make it look sappier than it is. The competition is steep: The Simpsons and My Big Fat Greek Life.
While You Weren't Looking: Lots of drama in the Pryor household-JJ broke his leg practicing for track. Meg learned her AB dance partner and "fake boyfriend" Jimmy Reilly was joining the MArines. Mom Helen became drawn to her professor.
Moment to Remember: Helen's classmate had an abortion, which caused her to examine her reluctance to have more kids. The times, they are a-changing.
Hope all is well, Shari.
