Meg was dateless and Beth invited her to hang out with her. A party was going on and Meg met Drew (Beth's friend). Meg was the only high school student there; the rest were college students. Drew and his friends start discussing politics and try to get Meg in on the debate, but Meg, being younger than the rest, didn't have a lot to say on the subject. Drew saw that it was making her uncomfortable and lightened up the conversation. Later Meg starts drinking. She calls Roxanne who's working at the record store with Luke. They're staying late; setting up for an autograph signing with Herman's Hermits for the next day. Roxanne fakes being sick so Luke will tell her to go home, but Luke's already on to her and tells her to have fun at the party. So Roxanne shows up to hang out with Meg and the older kids.
Helen goes out for a night on the town with Pete's new girlfriend, Nancy. Helen has no idea that women do this kind of thing. She likes it.
Patty has skipped a grade and is now on her first day of high school. She meets some girls and they invite her to a party. Party time comes and Patty arrives at the house where the party is supposed to take place. Patty knocks on the door and an older couple - complete strangers - answer it. There's no party. Patty's new "friends" had pulled a cruel prank. Patty goes to the record store and tells Luke what happened to her. Luke explains that something similar once happened to him. So Monday rolls around and Patty meets with her "friends" and says that she was sorry she missed the party but she was too busy helping Luke at the store and meeting Herman's Hermits. She asked if the girls had fun. She has also brought them all autographed Herman's Hermits records.
JJ's new squad leader is being a punk as usual; picking on the weak, skinny kid. He makes the kid drink someone's tobacco spit mixed with beer and does other cruel things. JJ finds out that the skinny kid is only 16 years old. You have to be 18. The kid begs JJ not to tell anyone. Later during the gas make drill, the punk's mask malfunctions and he runs out coughing. The skinny kid is standing there smiling to himself. Seems he sabotaged the mask. JJ figures it out and goes off on him telling him that they may not like the guy, but he is their leader. If the guy ever pulls something like that again, JJ will expose the truth about his age and have him thrown out.
Jack agrees to coach the young boys basketball team (I forget what happened to the coach). Jack discovers his assistant coach is a nun. lol! Will asks Jack that since
he's now the coach, if he'll let him play. Will was always the score keeper since he's not able to play. Jack realizes that this isn't a job for him.
Henry moves his family to their new home. They all worry about how they'll be able to afford it, but Henry assures them that with everyone's help, (Sam's job, Nathan's "job"; Henry doesn't know he's really selling drugs for money) that it'll all work out. Henry's wife hasn't been feeling well. Later we find out that she has cancer.
One of the best episodes, in my opinion.
