why? why Korn? I do not understand...I too once loved Korn...that was all but a few years ago...I eventually started listening to other bands and realized that there are so many more talented and more entertaining bands out there.
I work at Hot Topic and every single day I watch teenagers pass up some really cool t-shirts for the ugliest Korn shirt ever made. They're not even looking at all the cool shirts like Killswitch Engage, Nothingface, Shadows Fall, Deftones, Snot, Type O Negative, Glassjaw, etc...I just don't understand why you "korn kids" are so close-minded when it comes to music...same thing with the Slipknot and Disturbed fans. Please explain to me why this is?

They are all so close to one style of music because they have never experianced TOOL either atall, enough or in the right way - and for this they are missing out on over 50% of life!!

nobody really wants to stand up for Korn and tell me why they like them...there has to be some explaination for this band...their new material is pitiful...nothing worth listening to.
Why do you all like Korn so much, yet you pass up amazing bands like Queens of the Stone Age and Mars Volta and even Taproot or Guano Apes...these are all bands that are far more exciting and write much better lyrics and have so much potential, but they never go very far because of the Korn and Slipknot kids that only like those types of bands (mudvayne, manson, godsmack, chevelle, etc) and won't listen to anything else.
It's so hard to believe that someone can say Korn is the best band, or even their favorite band, because that means that you have no idea what you're missing out on.

People say they are the best band in the world, well they are considered one of the best. In ways of fame and success Korn has been compared to other great bands like Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana. Korn made a huge change in the music world. They paved a way for all the new music you hear today like Linkin Park. Korn is credited for making a whole new genre.
Other reasons, their music helps people. Jonathan's lyrics are all full of hate, depression, etc. For many people when they are in these moods Korn lyrics help them through it. It's even happened to me before. You feel like your not the only one going through this crap.
Also, just because someone likes Korn, it doesnt mean they dont listen to other music. You should not be so quick to judge others.

Korn in the early 90's were one of the original "Nu Metal" bands that got things going. Korns first album was really something great, and it inspirered a lot of the bands that are out today. Nu Metal had a big run from then really till now because a lot of Nu Metal is dying out. Metalcore is the big thing that is starting to come around, bands like Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Lamb of God ect. are all starting to hit it big. The real metal scene is on a rise right now and hopefuly very soon it will be at it's best.
Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Slayer are all alive and well.....even though Metallica's last album was pure shit, they are still amazing live! A band like Korn may have had it's run with a lot of people, and now have turned away from it. I grew up on Korn, and I own every album. They were like weed as far as metal went for a lot of people, it was a gateway drug to a lot of heavier and better bands. I really don't listen to Korn much anymore, but who is to say that there is somethign wrong with loving them? Sooner or later, the kids who are loving them now are gonna do the exact same thing me and a ton of other metal fans have done.
A few years ago I went from just listening to Kid Rock, Limp Bizkit, Rage Against the Machine, Korn, System of A Down, Disturbed, Staind, Saliva, Slipknot, Mudvayne, Powerman 5000....with maybe a little bit of the bigger metal bands like Metallica, Pantera, Tool....
To now over the past few years listening to...
A lot of the old Metallica, Loving Tool even more, as well as APC, Loving Pantera to death...Opeth, Dream Theater, Judas Priest, Slayer, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, King Diamond, Shadows Fall, Overkill, Demons & Wizards, Arch Enemy, Immolation, Obituary, Mastodon, Iced Earth, Angra, Dream Evil, Leaves' Eyes, Dimmu Borgir, Emperor, Satyricon, Exodus, Napalm Death, Nightwish, Soilwork, In Flames, Cannibal Corpse, Pig Destroyer, Mayhem and I could go on forever!
Even though I still love Mudvayne, Slipknot and a bit of Korn....Im loving all of the Prog., Death, Black, Power, Doom, Thrash, Speed, Classic Metal. Nu Metal was really just a way to get into all this great shit that I am listening to know. I look at Alec for saying QOTSA is amazing and I laugh at that because he is still listening to radio rock. Evanescence is getting all this fame but bands like Lacuna Coil, Nightwish, Leaves' Eyes, Amaran ect. aren't getting shit! People who hear Lacuna Coil are calling them a Evanescence ripoff! It's so fucking stupid! Just about as stupid as saying someone who loves Korn doesn't have the right to call them a great band or one of the best. Everyone likes what they like, and over time they will really find their true love in music.
Shitty Hardcore is also what is going on right now, Terror, Hatebreed(only hxc band I like), Converge, Every Time I Die ect. is the whole new trend. That and Metalcore(while some is good, but the newer bands are just getting so fucking generic) will be the next Nu Metal. I promise you in a few years while this whole trendy Hardcore/Metalcore phase takes over a lot of people will be saying "Oh yeah this so and so band are amazing" but a few years after, they will be considred shit! Same thing went for Korn, back in the day Korn.

the unknown has hit it right on. korn was a stepping stone for me. now i listen to stuff from dimmu borgir and eyes of fire to velvet revolver and queens of the stone age. if some korn plays ill listen to it. ill even dig up an album (if i can find it) and listen to it from start to finish. one time they were my fav band. now they are just one of the many i listen to. a tip to people who only listen to the stereotypical korn and slipknot. go on yahoo launchcast. go on korns part. look for similar bands. and listen to them. that was how i found alot of the bands i like now.

I dont know why everyone thinks that Korn fans only listen to korn and Slipknot. I love Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, and Deftones. There all sweet. I just like Korn more. They have way more songs that i listen to.

short and simple. korn was badass back in the day with their debut album and a couple following that, now, they're just getting repetitive. not to say i hate them, but i just prefer not to listen to them as much anymore. just had to say that before anyone jumps to conclusions.
