I really think that Drake and Martha had a hard time holding it together in their scenes and both brillantly used their personal emotions in the scene. I'm sure MM's tears were real and I think Drake knew if he looked i t her, he'd lose it. Instead Drake had John averting his eyes and turning his back.
I absolutely loved how he called her Dink and she corrected him with this edge of sarcasm. You know the Shelle fans are losing something but I think the John fans are too because John Black has always been about family and to strip it away dimimiishes the character of John Black. Then again, Higley has her agenda so everyone else be damned besides what do I know, I'm only a viewer of 30+ years.
I cried too during the hospital scenes. I absolutely adored teh salute from 'Sailor Man' to his parents. Nice touch.
