So today is a day that I always figured would come but still can't believe its here. Today is the last airdate for Shelle. We don't know if it will be the last one ever or if they do come back, who will be in those roles. For now, they are gone.
I thought alot about this post and have numerous things I could say including a long rant as to how the characters, the couples and the fans had been screwed over. I decided that I would focus on what I loved about them, for this post at least.
I adore Shelle, I really do. I was trying to think of why and to be honest, I can't pinpoint one reason. I guess at the basic level I loved their contrast. Belle was a smart, pampered, independent perfectionist. Shawn was a laid back, easy going on the surface with some serious chips on his shoulders. That is how I saw them despite what the numerous writers tried to make them into and lord knows they've undergone more changes than any other characters or couple. (with Max and Stephanie gaining on them on a daily basis).
I loved watching them fall in love, its one of my favorite parts of soaps. Sadly, the storylines for this couple were horrific. I'm not going to sour the wonderful memories I have of this couple, al the way from their first dance, to their first kiss, to their first time making love, to their farewells.
The other wonderful side benefit to Shelle is the friends I have made as a result of being a part of this fanbase. Who knows what the future will bring but I know that many of you have changed my life signifcantly and I have made friends that I hope will last a lifetime.
So I thank you all for everything. I thank the actors who portrayed Shelle, Kirsten Storms, Jason Cook, Charity Rhamer, Martha Madison and Brandon Beemer. Your hard work and dedication was most appreciated by this fan.
