Well, to relate my chupa experience, I will have to go back to the mid 80's when I was out camping one night in the hills of WV.
My friends and I were setting up our tents in the woods about 100 feet off a dirt road that got hardly any traffic. It was the fall and the leaves had turned and were preparing to drop from the trees anytime. As I had walked off to do a little firewood gathering I was watching the ground for deadfall and wasnt paying attention to the treetops or the shadow shuffling along a branch high overhead. As i bent over to pick up some more kindling I happened to look at a nearby puddle and see such a thing as I had never imagined. I turned slowly, looking over my shoulder and turning my body around to stare into the face of a dirty, hairy little creature. At first I thought it was a raccoon but instead of a grey furry body below the head, there was the figure of a well muscled and rust red monkey. About 30 feet above me it paused in its slinking along a branch and eyed me back. Our locked gaze was broken when two of my friends came over the nearest hill shouting for me to get some firewood and quit goofing off in the woods. Startled, the 'chupa' darted off into a series of swings and leaps that put it out of sight in a matter of moments and I neither related the story that night nor ever saw it again...
