I would like to take this moment to say hello to everybody and say that I hope that this site and forum will do some good in the metal community here in Lexington. We need to band together and make venues for ourselves! I put this together so that bands can get a listen to each other and in the process, get some great shows lined up so everyone wins!

So let's get started...

Yeah, I've thought that the metal bands needed thier own board for a while now anyway. Thanks for setting it up.
Let's hope there is some real positive interaction that takes place on here.

We know that all the Lexington metal bands are dying to get out there and do some shit. Our real problem is that there just isnt a place to play. I think everyone knows that, so there's no point in beating that dead horse.
But what can be done to change that? Should we pound A1A will bomb threats till the open thier doors for a metal night?
What about MF Hooligans.. they've been pretty responsive to letting metal bands in in the past, it's just a matter of getting in there that first time with them.
What about good old fashion field parties?

We need to just keep up the brainstorming untill something falls into place.

Once the DAB get back on track, we'll be down for anything and everything that comes along.

Later,
Dylan

Damn, lazy ass metalheads.

Where's our boys in the other local metal bands at?
I was hoping for some real discussion on here.
Is it true what the anti-metal-ites at lexmusic.com say? That it really is just the metal scene that is dead in Lexington? It's beginning to look that way.
Let's prove them wrong.

Dylan

Hey! Give it time, the metalheads will begin to come in.
I want to start by thanking Skullcap for setting up this forum for us. Great job. On to the topics at hand.
We're all about trying to set up some crazy **** and get a crazy metalfest going on.
A1A probably won't happen. We aren't extremely heavy and we have a hard time getting in because they say we're too heavy. Which I don't understand because the nights that draw out the most people are the nights they have hard rock, not the jam/cover bands. Just baffles me.
As for setting some gigs up, we're still trying to get some things line-up. We're still working on setting up some unconventional gigs.
I think Hooligans is a possibility but it's a matter of showing them that the heavy acts draw. We've played there a few times in the past couple of months and I think we might be able to continue but the key is to show them that metal will draw. What that means is that the local metal bands have to start going out and supporting each other when we do finally get a gig. Spent is playing there tomorrow night and it would be great to see the metal community out there and show Hooligans that the scene is an untapped resources they could get capture if they wanted. Just my two cents.
Peace. Let's get the metal scene going.

Gonzo.

Just moved to Lexington last year, and I have barely seen or heard any metal bands since I got here. Damn shame too, cause from the sound of the MP3's, Skullcap sounds like a great band!

There just isn't a place for the metal bands to play in Lexington. There used to be a few shitty clubs, but noone ever showed up when you were playing anyway..

That does suck. Just seems that Lexington isn't a "metal" town, ya know? I would say Louisville is though....
