- Wednesday night's series finale of the FX series "The Shield" had a storyline loosely based on the death of Chris Benoit. During the final episode, Detective Shane Vendrell, 1 of the main characters, kills himself & his family in order to prevent any of them from suffering, because of the hole he'd dug himself into throughout the series. Ultimately, Shane kills himself & overdoses his pregnant wife & son with painkillers that were placed in their drinks. He placed them on the bed with flowers & a toy in their hands. Their bodies, laying peacefully with their hands on their chest, is eerily reminiscent of the real-life Chris Benoit murder-suicide incident. The creator of the show said the original script called for the main character to get caught by police, but he told the writers to make it similar to what the wrestler did last year. Next month, check out your favourite TV shows' season finales, as Mohinder Suresh gets knifed by Clair Bennet in a dirty locker room in Puerto Rico, while Sealy Booth puts on a stormtrooper mask with glitter on it & falls through a styrofoam wall.
- Those waiting for Reid Flair's 1st official pro wrestling match will have to wait a couple more weeks. The 20-year-old son of 16-time world champion & WWE Hall of Famer "Nature Boy" Ric Flair was forced to pull out of what had been billed as his pro wrestling debut, due to "health issues." The bout had been scheduled November 22nd on a PCW (Pro Championship Wrestling) show in Oak Lawn, Illinois. "He had a real bad gum infection," said Slick Ricr. "He had to sit out for a week & we weren't sure whether or not he was going to have to have surgery, because he had a bone exposed. I had to take him off the show in Chicago. But they treated it & it's fine now." Reid & older brother David, managed by their father, will meet The Nasty Boys (Jerry Saggs & Brian Knobbs), managed by WWE Hall of Famer "Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart. Flair said he handpicked the opponents. "I love Jerry & Brian. They're awesome & Brian's so entertaining." Reid Flair, an amateur standout who has spent the past year training with his dad & George South in Charlotte, moved to Eldon, Missouri, last week to begin 3 months of training under the legendary Harley Race. Flair will join another 2nd-generation product, Ricky Steamboat Junior @ Race's wrestling academy. Steamboat, who also trained this past year with his father, Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat & South, is scheduled to leave the camp after the 1st of the year, to train in Pro Wrestling NOAH's dojo in Japan. Other 2nd- & 3rd-generation wrestlers who have trained or are currently training under Race are Mike DiBiase & Ted DiBiase Junior (sons of "$1,000,000 Man" Ted DiBiase & grandsons of the late Mike DiBiase), as well as Joe & Amy Hennig (son & daughter of the late Curt "Mister Perfect" Hennig & grandson & granddaughter of Larry "The Axe" Hennig). As if Reid's pro wrestling debut wasn't already going to generate some attention, there's been even more star power tossed into the mix. http://www.Highppots.com has announced that WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan will be the special guest referee for Reid Flair's debut match next month. The match will happen @ an indy show on December 6th @ Vance Nebulon High School in Charlotte, North Carolia. Also announced for the December 6th Charlotte event's the Midnight Express (Stan Lane & Bobby Eaton) versus The Rock & Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson). - Without the press present & no big build up or hoopla, "Big" Vito LoGrasso won his 1st Mixed Martial Arts fight in the Dominican Republic. The fight went 3 rounds, with Vito winning on a decision. "The Wrestling Business has been on a down slide, so I finally decided to get off the couch & do it! It was a huge learning experience! MMA's no joke. It's to be taken seriously & isn't something for the average person, with no experience, to do. It takes a lot of commitment & training." The whole event had little glitz & glamour, with not a lot of people present. Vito had been discussing doing the transition for over a year, but continues to wrestle with Independents & Nu Wrestling Evolution in Europe. "You have to have heart, determination & skills. I'm happy to know that, if I wanted to do this on a full-time basis, I could be successful." It says a lot for The Toughest Man to Ever Wear a Dress. Big Vito doesn't have the Amateur Wrestling status that most do who switch fields, but he survived his 1st fight. He returned to the US with a coupla black eyes & bruised ribs. - Jerry Jarrett's back with another weekly edition of the very popular . This week, Jerry gives advice to people that are already in the business. He talks about how a major problem's how wrestlers simply don't listen to their boss. He says that the boss isn't the person that signs their cheques, it's the fans. Jarrett talks about when he was in TNA, that too many of the wrestlers worked like it was a circus instead of a wrestling match. He said 1 time he tried to give advice to 1 of the wrestlers & they said in return that they've been getting 4-star match reviews in the newsletters as of late. He says a match can't be planned from the opening to the final bell. Jerry says if an angle doesn't
click the 1st night, it's never going to get any better. He's amazed that promoters don't sit in the crowd & watch their matches. Both Jim Crockett & Vince McMahon would always watch every match they were promoting. Listen to it now @ http://www.WhosSlammingWho.podomatic.com

- Paul Heyman's posted an article @ the UK Sun website commenting on WWE's "ill-conceived" Jeff Hardy hospitalization storyline over the weekend, which he says is downright bad for business. After stating that it would be "rather hypocritical" for him to point fingers about whether a storyline crossed any lines, Heyman asks, "What was so wrong about the storyline? Was it that WWE has blurred the line on its own in-house website, which's where news like Eddie Guerrero's death or the Chris Benoit family tragedy has been 1st broken? Was it the eerie feeling some people had on the morning of a big show, hearing about a top star being found unconscious in a hotel, invoking memories of Eddie & even Brian Pillman? We're back to the issue of 'taste'" Heyman adds, "For some people, the manner in which WWE presented this storyline twist was just revolting. The callous view taken by WWE chairman Vince McMahon & those around him, not even taking into account how brazenly insensitive this storyline may be viewed, is yet another in a long line of demonstrations by McMahon that getting people talking is paramount." Heyman continues to discuss the other reasons WWE simply viewed as "low brow" entertainment & unable to secure coveted advertising partners. You can read the entire piece @ http://www.TheSun.co.uk
