- WWE Hall-of-Famer Jim Ross updated his blog & you can read the latest posting @ http://www.jrsbarbq.com
- Rey Mysterio Junior, 34, has agreed to all terms on a new contract, but it has yet to be confirmed if he's officially signed the deal. Mysterio's agreed to terms for a 3-year deal, with a 2-year option. His current contract with WWE was set to expire soon. It actually would have expired already, but the company extended it due to all the time he missed as a result of his various injuries. The standard WWE contract allows the company to extend it in the event of a long hiatus.
- Tommy Dreamer's speech on ECWWE Tuesday night, saying he'll leave WWE if he doesn't win their Heavyweight Championship by the time his contract expires on June 6th, is a shoot being turned into a storyline. Sources say Dreamer could really be leaving in June when his deal expires & this could be the beginning of his storyline exit from the company. While Dreamer said June 6th, the 1 Night Stand pay-per-view takes place the day after, so it would appear that he was mistaken. In a bit of trivia, should Dreamer end up leaving, he'd be the last "ECW Original" to depart from the brand. He's also the last talent remaining from the brand's June 2006 relaunch.
- Dave "The Animal" Batista & Rob Van Dam are co-starring in a movie called "The Wrong Side of the Tracks Part I." It's scheduled to be shot from February 3rd-24th in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Batista had been looking to get some time off since Wrestlemania, because he wanted to try his hand @ acting, but due to other injuries in the company, it kept getting moved back.
- To sell the storyline from RAW that ECW "Owner" Stephanie McMahon fired Chris Jericho, his http://www.WWE.com profile has been taken down. NNNNNNNOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
- WWE has 2 new DVD projects in the works. WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross noted in a recent blog on his official website that he was consulted over a planned "Greatest Tag Teams" DVD project, scheduled for release later this year. Regarding the other DVD, WWE has plans similar to the 2005 release, "Greatest Stars of the 1980s." Only this 1 will devoted to the greatest wrestling stars of the 1990s. It'll be interesting to see who gets profiled, as it'll chronicle stars from the Monday Night Wars, the Attitude era & the rise of the original ECW. The DVD's scheduled to be released this April.
- THQ Incorporated & JAKKS Pacific, Incorporated yesterday announced the availability of a Create-a-Superstar patch for Smackdown! versus RAW 2009 for Playstation 3. It's available for download on the Playstation Network & it'll let players give their created Superstars increased attributes, following a 1-time completion of the games Career Mode, as well as allow players to accept or decline Superstar abilities once they're unlocked. In addition, players may enter the code "MAXCAS" to provide created Superstars with increased attributes, in lieu of repeating Career Mode play. The same update's expected to be released for Xbox 360 early this year. Say, that sounds a lot like how WWF Attitude went. . .
- http://www.WWE.com has posted their list of the Top 25 Managers of all time, with the top spot going to the 1 & only Bobby "The Brain" Heenan. It's interesting to note that influential managers Jim Cornette & Paul Heyman {both former WWE employees, either working for their competition or openly haraguing their product} weren't included, while guys like Frenchie Martin & Harvey Whippleman made the cut. It's also interesting to note that "Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart, who was inolved with Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Championship Wrestling, was listed @ #5.
- "The Wrestler" movie was said to be a factor in John Laurinaitis' decision to suspend Tuesday night's Florida Championship Wrestling house shows @ the Bourbon Street Night Club in New Port Richey, Florida. He wanted WWE to disassociate themselves from the type of atmosphere seen in the movie, which made him feel doing a show in a bar wasn't something they wanted to be associated with. Oh you have got to be kidding me! . . .
- Keith Elliot Greenberg's now working on a biography on WWE Hall of Famer The Iron Sheik. Greenberg wrote the WWE-produced books on "Classy" Freddie Blassie & "Superstar" Billy Graham, as well as 2008 WWE Hall of Famer "Nature Boy" Ric Flair, although Flair himself has credited Mark Madden with turning the project around.
