      CO-washing:
      Get in shower, wet hair and body, wash face. Then, re-wet hair and apply mass amounts of cheap, light conditioner to it. I use probably 1 half-cup of White Rain Originals, Extra Body conditioner to do this. I know I have enough conditioner when the hair feels SLICK all the way through; prior to this, there will be spots that 'grab' my fingers as I try to work the conditioner through to the scalp and all the way to the ends. You HAVE to use a lot of conditioner, or the hair will NOT be clean and you end up looking greasy. Using too heavy a conditioner will also leave me greasy. Let this set on the hair while you wash/shave/whatever, taking care of the rest of your shower. When I've completed all the other 'showerly duties', I duck my head under the spray for a split second and begin working the conditioner again; this time, it will make a thin lather. Then I rinse, and rinse and rinse, and rinse some more. Not fully rinsing will leave me greasy, too. So, rinse LOTS! Then, I follow that up with a small amount of Mastey FreHair and rinse it out. Finally, a disturbingly cold bucket of water over my head, I curse a little, and I am done! Blot with a towel, put on a turbie twist for awhile, and comb out with my Revlon detangling comb, model #2512 ($1.28 at Walmart, really BOXY looking comb, really smooth)

      I should add that when I am in CO-wash mode, I do occasionally clarify. Once a month I use shampoo (either Suave clarifying, or just do a nice Vinegar rinse - 4T ACV to a quart of warm water, between the WR and the FreHair) and another time during the month I do use shampoo and conditioner, generally Finesse Moisturizing.

      CWC:
      Get in shower, wet head and body, then apply conditioner to the length of my hair (I am really into Clairol Herbal Essences Fruit Fusions right now; the Revitalizing is nice, so is the Hydrating. Both leave the hair soft and smooth, and oddly tangle-resistant, which is a BOON to my fine tangle-prone hair!) Then apply a SMALL dollop of shampoo to the scalp and first few inches of hair. Doesn't lather like whipped cream, but that's OK. Doesn't HAVE to lather like whipped cream to WORK!!!!! OK, so now my head is in a lather, my length is soaking in (and being protected from the shampoo BY) the conditioner. Hold the length out of the way, off to the side, then rinse the scalp. When I think most all the shampoo is gone, release the length and rinse it all clean and clear. Then I condition the whole mess, scalp-to-ends, and rinse well. Follow with the nasty cold water, and blot dry, turbie-twist, comb out, air dry, etc....

      "Products":
      Amazon (bless that woman!) has gotten me started on bunning wet (a la Karen Marie). We spritz our hair with lavender-water (made by using a cup of distilled water and 2 drops of lavender EO in a mister-bottle) and I dampen my hair with that and bun it wet. The ends are looking up, as a result!
      I do still OCASSIONALLY use Monoi, BUT (and may the masses have pity on me) find that it doesn't seem to work as well for me NOW as it did at the beginning. Maybe it is a mis-perception of mine, but I seem to think that my hair is tanglier with it; maybe it's attracting dirts.....but that could be a result of it being FARM season in this country. Spud fields kick up an unbelievable amount of dirt into the air. you wouldn't beLIEVE how much dust there can accumulate in my house in a two-day timespan. Yikes. Anyhow, I don't use Monoi as much now. I use it on my face and as a 'perfume' for hubby (he LOVES the vanilla monoi). I need to get me some sweet almond, and am going to start using jojoba as well and see if that works differently than the monoi or if its just ANY oil that is culprit in the tangling.

      Hugs, and happy haircare!

      I have switched to jojoba for good. That stuff absorbs like nobody's business, and doesn't make the hair tangly.....GREAT stuff, I cannot say ENOUGH good about it, really. (Do I sound like an infomercial yet?)

      Apply the jojoba to the ends while the hair is still wet, and then (if there's any left when the hair is dry - really, this stuff absorbs fabulously ) brush it through with a BBB. A little on my palms and stroked onto the outer layers will calm the halo effect and leave the hair "like buttah"

      Ya gotta get yourself some jojoba oil; your hair will thank you for it!!!

      OH! And I recently tried the Fruit Fusions "for color treated hair", although I cannot remember the proper name for it ("for colortreated hair" was the sub-title, if you will) and it was really nice. Very gentle, and I prefer the smell of IT over the Revitalizing. Look for "two-fers" at WalMart, where they'll have a shampoo AND a conditioner, hooked together with plastic wrap, and you get BOTH for $3, instead of the normal "$3 each" price.

      Hugs,
      LJ
