Would anyone be able to tell me about my great-grandmother?

If anyone can help, I would appreciate it. If not, I understand.

My Grandmother was adopted. My Great-Grnadfather adopted her when he was older (in his late 40's I think) from an orphanage in Wheeling West Virginia. Her birth records contain ficticious names and lead no where. In his time my great grandfather was a a wealthy businessman with alot of pull. He was also a Mason and a Shriner. For some reason he adopted this little 1 year old girl and brought her to his home to his wife and 2 teenage daughters. Since we all (from my Grandmother) look SO similar to her Sisters and their kids-we speculate she was actually HIS child from the get go from an affair. We have never been able to find my real great grandmother and of course think she is dead by now. My Grandmother was Born in February and of course I cannot remember the year. We think my great grandmother was the daughter of an Italian Immigrant who had a fruit/vegetable stand on Ann Street in Parkersburg West Virginia, but we are just going on speculation because she disappeared for awhile and then supposedly came back.

Hopefully this information will help.
