When Fenton had his vision in the cellar, it wasn't from God. His vision was from Satan. That's why Fenton said something along the lines of "I am ready to fulfill my destiny" (can't remember the exact quote) right before he killed his father. There was a war going on between good and evil, and because Fenton was a demon and his dad was a demon slayer, they were in essence at war with eachother. But while the good in Paxson wouldn't allow him to kill his son, the evil in Fenton easily allowed him to slay his father. At least that's the way I saw it.
