If you have the opportunity to buy an Emperor, do it. I put off buying the plain black one at my dealer's; it was there forever. When I finally went in to get it, he had sold it, and no more were being imported. Now I understand that they have changed (two bands on the cap) internationally. I have not had the mid four figures that it takes to score one of the decorated ones.
Rabbit in Moonlight is a beauty. I liked the picture of the Murasaki Shikibu and hope to see one when it passes through my dealer's.
If it turns out to be too big for regular use, save it for special use, and go out for a Lamy Safari or Namiki Sterling to write checks. I think somewhere in deep history on this forum is a brief discussion about writing with the Emperor, and it was favorable.
By the way, although I agree that the pen should be made right, I liked your Frankenpen enough that it decorated my office this past week when my computer was otherwise idle.
