Hello all,
in a previous post I asked what could have happened to one pen after usage of green Pelikan ink for some months. The ink bottle was bought 3 months ago.
After some time the ink flow stopped inspite of rinsing the pen repeatedly and I observed a strange white "debris" or "lime" -as I thought - under the nib.
I did not rest and succeeded in getting some of this white stuff on a slide and put it under my microscope, the surprise was great:
(Image made at approx. 600x magnification,phase-contrast Leitz microscope):
It is mould!
Obviously the Pelikan ink did not contain enough desinfectant and the watery base was culture medium for mould.
I hope these news were as interesting for You as for me.
best regards,
Lutz
