Response to Breguet Fountain Pen review

Of course, I have a very strong opinion about this pen (and not a positive one), but I understand your points. Your review is very thorough and it is nice to see a pen review for once here. I would love to see more.

If you don't mind, I just have to share my thoughts on this pen.

Like many other people here have said, why would Breguet sell a fountain pen? Breguet makes good watches, not pens. Of course this pen isn't made by Breguet, but almost surely by Montegrappa. At least with most other company collaborations such as the GP/Ferrari watch, both companies are mentioned. Here it seems that Breguet is trying to make it look like they actually made the pen themself and no credit is given to the hard work of Montegrappa in the making of this pen. To me, it seems like Breguet is trying to make some extra money selling a very expensive pen to the people who usually buy expensive watches. Sure many people enjoy both hobbies, but it seems like they are also targeting the people who have little interest in pens, but like Breguet watches. I almost fear that watch lovers are going to go out and buy this pen, hate how it feels in their hand, and be completely put off of all quality pens. Luckily for those here, your review descibed the negatives aspects of the pen.

I almost laughed the first time I saw the picture of the pen. Just look at the difference in girth between the piston end and the barrel, it is rediculous. This pen is so big, I don't see how it can be comfortable in anyone's hands. Then they put sterling silver on top so that you have a gigantic pen that weighs a ton too. Obviously this pen is not meant to be used for extended periods of time. In my eyes, it really is nothing more than another flashy LE, destined to spend more time in the bank than in the hand. If Breguet really wanted a pen worthy of their name, the pen should at least be somewhat ergonomic.

The whole pen is just too much for me. The blue on the nib just seems wrong to me. It would have been a lot classier if the B was engraved in the nib like all the other companies. Personally, I prefer the simple nibs of the past which only had a few words on them in standard text. Those pens were meant to be used for writing, unlike this one.

Of course, just my opinion.
-Jesse
