In a tribute to Varius, the flagship collection of the brand, Caran dAche continues its daring use of original materials and introduces an annual collection dedicated to men, produced in Limited Editions.

This first Limited Edition celebrates the magnificent marriage of two precious materials, ebony and mother-of-pearl. Connected by a delicate link, a thread of white gold, the two elements intertwine in harmony. The result is a perfect balance of power and delicacy, daring and serenity.




Expressing the strength of character of a refined individual who appreciates modernity, purity and elegance, the collection Link Series 1 collection embodies a contemporary, committed style. Manufactured in the Geneva workshops it is composed of 1001 writing instruments fountain pen, roller pen, ballpoint pen and mechanical pencil each numbered from 0001 to 1001, and a line of co-ordinated accessories including a belt, cufflinks and a lighter, each numbered 001 to 101.

Selected for their aesthetic qualities and their superb complementarities, the ebony, mother-of-pearl and white gold are rigorously examined to ensure they blend perfectly together.




At the very peak of their art, Caran dAche craftsmen regularly invent new techniques and have mastered the art of inlaying fine leaves of mother-of-pearl into the body of precious ebony. Threads of white gold delicately emphasize the dazzling impact of this composition. The three materials are set to a precision measured in microns, using a skill that is close to marquetry. It is a genuine feat of technical expertise. Precision and delicacy are the hallmarks of this new collection with a decor that is pure yet luxurious... hovering between daring and tradition.

A free interpretation of the contemporary man that is being constantly revisited, this collection is available in four writing instruments - fountain pen, roller pen, ballpoint and mechanical pencil as well as a line of accessories that includes a belt, cufflinks and a lighter.

Writing Instruments Technical Description

The fountain pen, produced in 1001 pieces, numbered 0001 to 1001, can be used with an ink pump or with Caran dAche cartridges. The rhodium-coated, 18-carat gold nib is available in six widths: EF, F, M, B, OM, OB.





The roller pen, also produced in 1001 pieces, numbered 0001 to 1001, can be used with a special roller-point cartridge, a fibre cartridge or a roller fluid cartridge, to offer a level of writing comfort that is close to a fountain pen.





The ballpoint available in 1001 pieces, numbered 0001 to 1001, contains a precision pushbutton mechanism and comes with the famous Goliath giant cartridge from Caran dAche that offers a capacity of 600 A4 pages of handwriting. Replacement cartridges are available in three ball sizes (F,M, B) to suit all styles of writing.




The mechanical pencil, produced in 1001pieces, numbered 0001 to 1001 is equipped with a rigorously tested, high-precision mechanism. It contains leads of 0.7mm diameter, with a replaceable eraser under the push button.

Each writing instrument is delicately numbered on one of the leaves of mother-of-pearl. The rhodium coating on the metal elements of the writing instruments gives them a wonderful sparkle and provides excellent protection. This rare metal, particularly difficult to extract, is some three time more expensive than gold.

They form an integral part of each collection, enhancing it with a wonderful richness of expression. Each accessory is a reflection of Caran dAche craftsmanship, quality and precision, as confirmed by the signature on each one of these utterly luxurious objects.





The Link Series 1 belt is made of soft, smooth Italian leather. Available in 101 pieces numbered 001 to 101, they carefully carry the style down to the smallest detail. The buckle created in the design of the Link Series 1 emphasises the chic of a sombre suit in todays dress code.






Graphic and complex Caran dAche cufflinks are variations on the motif of the Link Series 1 in all its modernity. Available in 101 pieces numbered 001 to 101 their hexagonal shape recalls the writing instruments in the collection.





The Link Series 1 lighter, available in 101 pieces numbered 001 to 101, is a statement of demanding standards and refinement. The Link Series 1 lighters, made entirely in Switzerland, are all distinguished by the Collection motif delicately integrated into the body. The components of this valuable mechanism are carefully adjusted to one hundredth of a millimetre. Fitted with a double gas reserve and a high-precision flame control, these lighters are technical, as well as aesthetic masterpieces.
