The event was jointly organised by Montegrappa and ...
The Aesthetic Bay.
The venue was at the Bistro beside Aesthetic Bay. Good location as we could visit the shop and see the pieces before the event.
Some early birds arrived...drinks and mingling while waiting to be seated.

Valerie introduced Montegrappa, and the Genio Creativo collection.
Genio Creativo is the collection of writing instruments in a limited edition that Montegrappa dedicates to the genius of those who, by means of their own creativity and passion, have created an object whose perfection became a source of inspiration in turn.
Montegrappa dedicates Tributo ad Amedeo Modigliani to the genius who discomposed the principles of portraits: a Limited Edition collection that traces the features of his style.
A short introduction of Amedeo Modigliani ( extracted from Wikipedia) : " Amedeo Clemente Modigliani (July 12, 1884 January 24, 1920) was an Italian artist of Jewish heritage, practising both painting and sculpture, who pursued his career for the most part in France. Modigliani was born in Livorno, in northwestern Italy and began his artistic studies in Italy before moving to Paris in 1906. Influenced by the artists in his circle of friends and associates, by a range of genres and art movements, and by primitive art, Modigliani's uvre was nonetheless unique and idiosyncratic. He died at the age of 35."
Some characteristics or styles of the painter was build onto the pen.
With reference to the above paintings in the slide :
"The neat line of the pen pays homage to the essentiality of his search for plasticity, the shaft and the cap are oval-shaped like the faces of his portraits, the clip is long and uneven like his noses, the cap ring has the characteristic irregular shape of the lips he painted.
Modiglianis distinctive feature, the firm and vibrating brushstrokes that marked every painting of his, has been reproduced with celluloid. The colour is the same as in several of his works of art: deep blue, as Parisian nights are. The excellence of his contribution to the history of art lies in the 18 carat gold nib on which one of Moděs studies of heads is engraved.
As in the previous edition of writing instruments of the Genio Creativo limited edition, the cap top identifies the collection with the Montegrappa logo and the solitary stone a symbol of the uniqueness of the genius, which, in the 18 carat pink gold version, is a diamond."

Details
Portrait Pen Fountain Pen is available in either 18K white or pink gold, with an oval space reserved on the barrel which each customer can have embellished with a decoration of their choice a picture, a portrait, a drawing carried out to order by the master craftsman of Montegrappa using the traditional manual technique of burin engraving; a work which demands an artistic skill that is now extremely rare and which only the master engravers of Montegrappa are able to apply to the diminutive surfaces of writing instruments.
The barrel and cap of the Portrait Pen are worked with diamond engraving of extraordinary depth, thus creating a special type of decoration which further sets off the oval area of the personalized engraving: in this way the picture stands out against the gold of the pen as a brilliant, unmistakable signature. For the extra personal touch, there is further space reserved on the cap for a second engraving, a dedication, a phrase or a symbol.
