Sheaffer clip problem

I just bought a used Sheaffer in stainless steel and its
a good writer with a nice fine nib but the problem is
the clip is stretched out and I want to know if anyone
has any tricks to correct this.
I can't remove it, the cap end does not un-screw.

Otherwise, its a nice pen and its made in the USA.
Does anyone know if the latest Sheaffers are still made
in the US?

Thanks,
Pete

Well, it's a last ditch fix but you can. . .

. . .put something fairly rigid, like a screwdriver shaft, in between the center of the clip and the cap, gently make sure the clip is wedged firmly up as far as it will go (so that the ball isn't touching the cap) and then use your fingers to bend the clip back down. When you remove the screwdriver or whatever else you're using for a wedge the clip should be firmly in place. You're permanently distorting the shape of the clip, though, so be careful and standard disclaimers apply .

I'll give it the ole careful college try but may opt just
to leave it as is.

Pete
