Frankfurt Airport Lounge (sorry, no pictures)

In mid December, a family member and I went on holiday to Italy, with our flight making a stop in Frankfurt. My family member was in First Class (I was in third class) and we stopped in Frankfurt, Germany.

In Frankfurt Germany, the first class lounge is actually a first class terminal. It's a separate autonomous, self-sufficient terminal within the Frankfurt Airport but is physically disconnected from the rest of the airport. It is only reserved for Lufthansa First-Class passengers, special VIPs, and HON Circle members of the highest standing.

Upon your entrance to the First Class Terminal, a private liaison escorts you through the security screening process which is done in a much less hurried environment. Your private liaison then escorts you into the lounge interior where there are large seating areas, a full service bar that is fully complimentary (All you can drink Johnny Walker Blue Label), a very good restaurant with exquisite wines and delicious made to order hot food. The restaurant features regular restaurant seating and light service and a fantastic dessert menu.

Should you wish to bath and freshen up after your long flight and prior to your next flight, there is a shower area; 4 separate bathrooms with showers, one has a shower and a huge bath tub that could accommodate a 7 foot tall person (I was floating in there). This bath tub had such immense volume that there wasn't enough hot water left and I took a lukewarm bath.

If you are a smoker, there is a cigar lounge that is closed off from the rest of the lounge. Should you have forgotten your cigars at home, no need to worry, the duty free store inside the First Class Terminal has an extensive selection of cosmetics, alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, Montblanc pens, Vertu phones, and even some wristwatches from various manufactures.

Adjacent to the business center (computer and internet), there is a wall with a panel of magazines in German and English for you to read. There is also a huge picture book of Africa published by the same company that is currently publishing the $10,000+ giant Atlas book. This was a very impressive book.

After you have enjoyed the lounge thoroughly and your plane is about the leave, your liaison takes you downstairs to the garage area where an awaiting Mercedes Sonderklasse vehicle or Porsche Cayenne SUV is prepared to take you to your airplane.

Your chauffeur whisks you to your gate, boards you onto the plane and informs the captain and purser of your arrival and permits them to depart.

This was my first experience in the First Class Terminal (I have only limited First Class experience as I've flown First Class only once or twice and not through Frankfurt) and it was a very pain-free flying experience. Any PuristS member transferring in Frankfurt would appreciate this lounge which is by far the best lounge I have ever been to or even heard of in the world.
