As mentioned in my previous photoessay, Needles, my darling albino hedgehog came to live with us a little over 7 weeks ago. He is a restless one and is always game to check out new places and sights. Doubletree KL celebrated its launch 3 weeks ago on August 5th and we decided to spend a weekend chilling out in this new hotel. There is currently a 2 nights for the price of 1 Grand Opening Offer when you make a reservation which could be why the hotel enjoyed full occupancy last weekend. What a steal at RM$380 ( USD$120 ) for 2 nights !

This building used to house the Crown Princess hotel and the developer did a excellent job revamping the development.

Doubletree presents a freshly baked, warm chocolate chip cookie to each guest at check-in.

Used as an iconic sign of Doubletree hospitality, the cookie has been used to differentiate the Doubletree hotel brand from its competition. What a delight to be presented a cookie after a long flight.

Doubletree cookies are baked several times a day in the kitchen of the hotels restaurants, and are kept warm in ovens built into the hotels front desks each oven is about the size of a two-drawer lateral file cabinet

Doubletree gives out approximately 35,000 chocolate chip cookies each day, and a total of over 220,000,000 since inception. Each cookie weighs 2½ ounces and has an average of 20 chocolate chips and walnuts. If you do not want to stay at the hotel to sample the cookie, just pop into their inhouse delicatessen The Food Store,

Needles peered over his paperbag and spied the G City Hotel across the road...

[linked image]

He wanted to check out the "Floating" Bridge Bar between the two towers of G City Hotel and like any indulging Mommy, LiL oblidged

[linked image]

Ahhh... what yummy desserts and FYI Needles loves champagne

[linked image]

His heart skipped a beat when he looked through the state of the art glass flooring. Needles suffers from vertigo

[linked image]

G City Hotel is also home to Tanzini restaurant

[linked image]

Yummy modern Italian grub

[linked image]

and yummier view of our colourful city

[linked image]

Feeling tired, we decided to take a nap. Needles snuggling up

[linked image]

Too cute to resist

[linked image]

Peek a boo

[linked image]

The hotel rooms are designed to be functional and comfortable

[linked image]

Mommy LiL had a good scrub under the Rainshower using Crabtree and Evelyn range of products

[linked image]

whilst baby Needles occupied his time paddling in the sink

[linked image]

Feeling refreshed, Needles and LiL decided to check out the hotel facilities. Outside the grand ballroom

Swimming pool area. This is, for your information, a saltwater pool, which is softer on your skin than the conventional chlorine pool

[linked image]

Beautifully lit up at night

[linked image]

In the mood for traditional Italian food, we made a reservation at the spanking new Tosca restaurant which overlooks the swimming pool area.

[linked image]

Needles was amused with the pasta leaf sign.

[linked image]

Needles watched the chef make pizza dough whilst waiting for our food to be served

[linked image]

The appetizer was our favourite dish. Mouth watering foie gras, Needles loves everything Umami

[linked image]

So much yummy food

[linked image]

To complement the tastefully done up decor

[linked image]

Hats off the the ID team

[linked image]

For breakfast we feasted at DoubleTree KL's signature restaurant, the Makan Kitchen.

[linked image]

which specialises in no less than six local cuisines : Malay, Kristang, Peranakan, Iban, Chinese and Indian

[linked image]

Featuring three live interative kitchens

[linked image]

Mangosteens, LiL's all time favourite fruit

[linked image]

Divine macaroons, baked to perfection

[linked image]

Waitress wearing the traditional Malay dress, the Baju Kurung

[linked image]

After all that pigging out, Needles with his high metabolic rate was relieved that he need not go on a diet

[linked image]

To end the perfect weekend, Needles and i joined our friends at NoBlackTie, to watch our local musicians belt out Broadway favourites. NBT is KL's premier jazz club and gastro bar.

[linked image]

Needles spoilt silly by his favourite Aunty, Trudy. He was the star of the show and even the real star wanted to give him a cuddle

[linked image]

Well, i guess that is the advantage of being an only child. However, concerned that Needles will feel lonely when LiL goes off on her overseas travels, we adopted a Salt and Pepper girlfriend for Needles.

[linked image]

Please say HI to Pins. She has lived with us for a few days only and is super active and curious for her age. She will definitely be a good travel buddy when Needles and LiL goes off on their next adventure in Kuala Lumpur.
