Black Friday/Cyber Monday travel deals?

I just read about several hotel chains offering really good hotel rates on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. These rates even include international locations and luxury brands like the Four Seasons. I was surprised at first because usually it's the retail department stores that do this after the Thanksgiving holiday. But it seems that the hotels are jumping on the band wagon. Do you think this will be a trend going forward? And has anyone booked any cool vacations for the holidays?

Happy Thanksgiving,

It's a quirky U.S. tradition

November 27 2010, 1:00 AM

Thanksgiving holiday in the U.S. is always the last Thursday of November. And then the following day is always called 'Black Friday' for shopping. Some crazy people wait in lines early in the morning to get deals on electronics, clothes, and all kinds of stuff. And in the past few years, all the online retailers jumped into the bandwagon and created a 'Cyber Monday' which is online sales.
For me, I'd rather sleep in because I think most of the stuff is really not that much cheaper.

Anyway, where's your next trip? Looking forward to reading more of your travel experiences.

Helloo Ed-209

I saw pictures of the Black Friday shopping crowd and don't think that is my cup of tea either. I never make good shopping decisions when under duress and will end up buying something I don't need. Even if the discount is 90%, it still means I would have been better off saving the 10% and spending the money on a product which would be useful to me. My home is already overly cluttered because of my impulse purchases and products which I used only once or twice after spending hard earned money acquiring.

I will be spending a weekend at Pangkor Laut resort 2 weeks from now ( anniversary celebration ) and will be sure to take lots of pics cause that is a destination that lots of Purists will be interested to visit happy.gif I actually made a trip to Sapa a few weeks ago and have many photos of the amazing views and wonderful hilltribe residents to share. Too many end of the year activities keeping me busy and must make it a point to post both Sapa and Pangkor Laut photoessays before we say hello to 2011.
