a long held untested bias totally blown away...

okay, I admit it - I've been a Euro snob most of my life when it comes to high line and high performance cars.

Driving, REAL driving, is more than going quick in a straight line...

BUT...

POWER!

road holding and handling dynamics

Did I mention POWER?

The Vettes since the C-05 have been awfully tempting on paper, and yes, they more than live up to the hype.

Bone jarring - more so than the Ferrari 430 - when the roads are anything but glass smooth, even in touring mode, and it does transmit lots of road noise.

The seats are a pleasure...

The paddle shifters lag generations behind the 430 shifters but in auto mode is far more pleasant.

All in all a real contender even with no pricing consideration, but throw in value for money, a true world beater.

Yep, another untested assumption shaped by prejudice and other people's opinions blown to bits after personal hands on experience...

(I don't really trust the electric door releases even on the inside...give me pure mechanical linkages anyday...)

Opening doors when electrics fail

April 29 2009, 5:31 PM

Rest assured. There is a fail safe for opening the doors should the electrics fail.

Great pictures and that's a great license plate! Hard to imagine there is still snow on the peaks in late April / early May.

I had no idea you like Corvettes. I am a long time Corvette nut although I have not had a new model since 1985.

Did DRMW have a say on the color?

Enjoy your new ride.

Awesome pics of the C6

April 29 2009, 11:51 PM

Great pics TM! There's nothing quite like having a 400+ hp and ft/lbs torque in a naturally aspirated V8, and IMHO Corvette has really stepped up in terms improving handling.
One of the benefits carried over from the C5 is the magnesium removable roof. Have you tried it yet? It allows you to have the drop top experience and still maintain a rigid frame structure (with a neat locking system in the trunk to store the roof panel).

Regards,
