i think it would really depend on where you were employed, your duties/roles and the size of the company.

K780 a fornight for an IT administrator position for a start, i turned down the offer. it was from a state owned company in pom. I guess others would pay lower if I am not wrong. |

How much you get paid, and responsibilities, and how big the company/org is in the corporate society depending on its emphasis on ICT.
I know of an administrator at a gov dept is paid K800.00 plus DMA (18000 pa), but a similiar at a mining gets plus or double with other peaks and priviledges. The one i had some donkey years ago pays me 700PGK /forts. but this is a starting pay grade for BSP grad schemers. Some one i know also gets paid K200.00 per day so in a forts K2400.00. So it realy depends on where you work and how competitive you are.
However, if you think that's not enough then its no longer a village society but rather an e-village. Up to you!!!
Like they say in PNG "EM DEPEND LO HAIR CUT NA TALENTS BLO YOU..."

How much are you worth? And what value are you going to bring to any organization that will employ you? When you are employed with that organization are you going to change the way that organization does IT?
A degree nowadays will not make good salary, an MCSE or similar industry accreditation with at least 5 or more industry experience in a decent size private company can give you at least some salary negotiations for your future employment prospect.

Sure true Anon.
but just a reminder that MCSE or other industrial accredited certificates are not really a necessity cause i found out that there's more competent gurus and wizzies out there who still don't have one. I think it just boils down to what you are capable of doing then a piece of degree, or indust. certificates.
But working towards one would be beneficial for moving to much higher roles and to fly high, and at the same time increasing your CV pages.
