they are basically still made today in the form of the 112's but now with the expo back of course. The 2A's and early 2B's with the T dials are unique from the T dial standpoint which should add a little value to those. What the 2B L dials do have going for them is two things as I see it. First is history. They were produced in the early Vendome days in small numbers. Plus some do prefer the L dials over the T dials as the L's do not get the yellowing patina the T's get.
That said, I would suspect that none of the 2's will appreciate at the same rate as a PVD or any model that has been discontinued or updated like the older GMT's vs the newer ones. It will be up to the owner/buyer to appreciate the history of the piece or not, and be willing to pay a premium for that aspect of that watch.
All this from a Panerai 2B L owner by the way. To me my pleasure comes from knowing the watch I am wearing is part of the early history of Panerai and from loving the clean looks of the Pam 2 L dial. And that is enough to make my 2B a keeper for me. |
