Strap expert opinion needed <pic>

Straps experts among us: can someone tell me if this is an authentic OEM strap? I have never seen any Panerai strap like this, so I was wondering: Is is a fake strap or simply an OEM from the days before I started to Panerai...

Any guess?

Cheers,

Konstantin

Either a Dirk deluxe? Or a well engineered fake? Did it have a >>

Hello,

Did it have a buckle sewn in it when you first obtained it??

If so..what did the buckle look like??
Also I never recalled panerai having a light seude leather lining on the back of a 24 x 24 strap.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Size is 24/22mm and 120/80mm...

Hello Johnathan,

I am also suspicious because of that suede-ish backside.
Additional reason to be suspicious: The size is 24/22.
The old-skool straps are 24/24 as far as I know.

But the side of the strap and the logo are quite well made...

Maybe you are right and it is simply a well made fake.

No idea about whether it used to have a buckle or not.
It doesn't look like it though.

Konstantin

Also the keepers look two narrow to be a real vintage Pre-V strap....

Stamp is faked and construction is unlike pre-1997 (more)

Position of the copyright 'R'in relation to the Logo is wrong. Pre-1997 don't have a lining and round holes and are never tapered...

Now we have to worry about fake OEM straps, too?

Thank you!

Thank you Dirk!
Since you are such an authority when it comes to straps, I appreciate your input.

Luckily I was just LOOKING at the strap - not OWNING it.

But I guess it shows that we all better watch out - or simply know where to get the good ones.

Have a great day.

Konstantin
