It's not customary to interview the loser of a match afterward; instead they invariably talk to the winner if they talk to either participant. At the conclusion of the interview the interviewer offered Monica his congratulations, and what one does is console a loser and congratulate the winner.
During that interview Hovermale was clearly excited and out of breath and apparently didn't have her thoughts fully organized. The comment about having been pinned referred to a previous contest.
Quoting from the article on the Digital Sports website (which supplied the videos): "Smithburg's 103-pound champion Monica Hoverdale (top) survived nearly being pinned to win this first round bout, 18-10, over Evan Pick of Marriott Ridge." Certainly the Digital Sports people would know who won.
As noted previously, the official did not at any time signal a pin, the bout clearly went the full three rounds, and when it concluded the ref held up three fingers: 3 points for Monica's opponent for exposing her shoulders, not for pinning her, bringing the score to 18-10. It's important to understand the meaning of those hand signals used by an official.
However, if a person wants to pretend Monica lost there's no apparent harm done.
