To be fair I must admit that I have found on the web a separate account of the facts suggesting that A.nony´s interpretation may be valid.
In any case, I suppose A.nony would agree that the clip is misleading due to a combination of facts such as Monica´s shoulder´s position at the end of the match, the referee´s behavior, and Monica´s own comments at the end.
So A.nony might be right on the fact that Monica Hovermale refers to a pin previous to the bout in question. Also note that she was pinned by Avi Friedman the next day (or a few days after) the clip was shot, in less than 2 minutes.
With regards to statistics I have quoted, I have given full back up data, including the names of the girls in mixed gender bouts in 2 separate messages on this forum, so that everyone can check. All the data are available on the web, and I would be glad to provide any detailed background data if requested.
Those 2008 statistics are, as far as I know, the first ones ever on mixed gender bouts in high school. They strongly suggest that mixed gender bouts are unfair to girls, and constitute a discrimination against their gender.
In effect a girl has about 10 to 15 times less probability than a boy to qualify to states, and in addition, a female state qualifier has a much less probability to beat or pin a male state qualifier than the opposite, evidence of which in the following figures.
In 40 state meets covering more than 80% of the population there were 148 mixed gender bouts. The boy won 103 bouts (70%) and the girl won 45 bouts (30%). Out of these 148 bouts 68 ended by pins. The boy pinned the girl 56 times (82%) and the girl pinned the boy 12 times (18%).
