Saturday at the Job Corps gymnasium on Union Street in Bangor, the John Bapst Memorial High School wrestling program held their First Annual Summerslam Tournament.

The tournament featured some 80 wrestlers participating in nearly 100 matches on the day. One of those participants was a nationally ranked female wrestler named Kelly Golek. An 18 year old 2009 graduate of Mount Ararat High School in Topsham, Maine, Golek earned her 100th high school win on January 10, 2009 and finished her four year varsity (boy's team) career with 119 wins. She was a High School All-American in 2009, and ranked the number five high school female wrestler in the nation.

The five foot five inch Golek wrestles in the 105 pound weight class, and took first place in that class on Saturday. She also finished first in the girl's bracket, and was voted the top female wrestler of the tournament. Golek has been wrestling for 10 years, and was the only girl on the wrestling team until she reached the sixth grade. In the fall Golek will attend and wrestle at Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania.
