I am a hartley by birth and originate from Eccles, greater manchester, where my family have lived from the year dot. I have decided to research my family tree and have come to a stumbling block. I cannot access the birth certificate of My great grandfather James Hartley who was born in the year 1857. There a seems to be quite a few of them born in the Salford District at this time. I know his wife came from Belfast and her first name was Jane, also that they could have been Wesleyans. Can anyone help or know of this side of the Hartley family.
