I've been reading a lot of information from the Parks Dept. site talking about the formation of the ski areas around MtRainier.  The National Parks Service, well many in that dept. tried to stop the establishment of a ski area at Paradise for many years and put the stop to many efforts to get a chairlift installed.  Cayuse Pass and Chinook Pass ski areas were created in hope to get the people to ski there instead of Paradise and there was even talk around 1950 to create a large development with lifts running from the Cayuse Pass junction up to lake Tipsoo....and more.  The creation of White Pass ski area and Crystal Mtn ski area put an end to the development plans and around 1960 all ski lifts (tows) were removed from the area.

I'll be adding the actual text of this to the site on the Chinook Pass/Cayuse Pass/Paradise sections in the next few days.
