SP2? I installed on XP and had no problems-but I only have SP1-if you have SP2 installed like Ed suggested you might try disabling the firewall in SP2-that might be interfering-or if worse comes to worse-uninstall SP2-that's what I did-SP2 has a tendency to interfere with some older games by taking out some of the programs that assist in running them-
