I make several sized houses...

Response to I like your rule.....

it depends on how many I am making... and how humid it is here in south florida.

I am making two sizes today. One will be a small house... with a 4 x 5 inch front and back, a 4 inch square side peaked to 6 inches. This is the size I make for gift giving... the classic fantasy house. I assemble them on a heavy aluminum cake tray and use the bags of iced oatmeal cookies for the roofing tiles, then decorate with all kinds of great candy. I have to keep the candy wrapped as the humidity melts even hard candy where it bleeds onto the snow. I use waxed paper for the windows... and seal a small 35 light strand of multicolored lights into the house so I can plug it in. They are very cool and everyone loves them. I can make 6 in a long day.

My other house today will be 14 inches to the peak with a round room on the side topped with a yogurt store waffle cone. I am going to a boat parade party next weekend and want to take something to wow the hosts.

Years ago when I lived in Vermont I used to make two story victorian style homes... but now I would rather make the quick small houses. The smiles are bigger and people arent afraid to eat them.
