Hi Loreta, thanks for maintaining such a great site! I've been building for years and although my decorations change from year to year, I've lacked the courage to try new patterns. Based on the information I've found on your site though, I'm beginning to think that perhaps I CAN handle it!
Question about the dough... I'm using an old German recipe that's been modified over the years for one reason or another, but mostly because its difficult to translate and calls for hard to find ingredients like rosewater and potasche. I continue to struggle to use it because in the end, the house maintains the most wonderful scent of gingerbread for months - recipe calls for cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom. Do the doughs you use retain a scent? If so, I may be interested in trying one next year.
