| I think the National Gingerbread House Competition is the competition heald at the Grove Park Inn, in Ashville, North Carolina. The 2004 competition has already happended - a few weeks ago.
Regarding water - for ponds I like to use hard sucker candy poured over a piece of blue paper. This provides for depth (you look through the clear candy into the blue paper). The hard candy sucker recipe can be found on my website - www.frankysattic.com under recipes - gingerbread recipes.
In the past, we've simply colored icing blue to mimic water.
