Lighting

I am getting ready to make my first Gingerbread House. I have a new son, and I hope to make this a new tradition that we can do as a family as he grows up. Hopefully by the time he is old enough to help, I'll have a little experience under my belt.

I am planning on making stained glass windows, and have read the posts on various methods of making candy glass. I'm going to experiment with variuos techniques for making candy glass this week.

I have been thinking about lighting. I want light to come from within the house. I don't want to use electric lights, and of course candle light is out of the question.

I am considering using "glow sticks" for lighting. They come in various colors, sizes, and intensities. Has anyone else done this? Maybe this is a common method and I'm not coming up with anything new. Do the rules on edibility in contests address lighting? While the liquid inside is technically non-toxic, it is not meant to be eaten.

Are there other methods of lighting that people use beyond flashlight type devices? I'm thinking "glow sticks" would be ideal because they give off no heat.
