It depends a little on the humidity on your area, but if you store your house dry (and maybe covered to prevent it from getting dusty) it will keep for many months. I'v saved mine for 6 months no problem. I've saved gingerbread cookies that were meant as tree ornaments for two years and they are still not falling apart, not even the royal icing decorations.
