The triangles have to be taller than one half their base. When you put the four triangles together before connecting the last seam, you should have almost enough room to add a fifth triangle. Redraw and recut the pairs taller. For instance, if I want a 7-1/2" x 6" roof that is 3" tall, I would have two triangles that have a 7-1/2" base and are 4-1/2" tall. The other two triangles would have a 6" base and be about 5" tall. Try it and adjust for how steep the roof is.
