One thing that I do to make my windows is I use ordinary Saran wrap. I apply it to the back side of the gingerbread before assembling the house. You can apply it by using frosting. If you want more of an opaque look, You can apply Saran wrap to wax paper, and then apply the wax paper to the back of the gingerbread house. You can light the house up from the inside with an electric candle (commonly sold at Michaels), and this gives the house a really beautiful warm glow at night.
