I'm inclined to think that yes, it is too early. I've made windows only once using a lollipop recipe. They looked great for a week or so, but then became sticky and cloudy. It may be that I used a poor recipe or executed the recipe improperly, or it may simply be too humid in my area to do candy windows.
In any case, if this is for a contest, I wouldn't chance it. I would try to get gelatin sheets or just have open windows with elaborate decorative trim, or use cookies or extra gingerbread to fashion closed windows.
When you have more time (not with a contest looming) you can try out different window methods to see what works best for your conditions and then you will know your possibilities for next year's contest. |
