Blair In Iraq

August 23 2003 at 8:31 AM

-

ALL world leaders love to give the impression that they risked all for a cause, and I suppose, in that, Tony Blair has been no exception.

But ...
Even though most of the UK seemed opposed to the war ....
How much of a risk did Mr Blair honestly take when he joined Americans in attacking Iraq?

Did Blair really risk all?

Hi Dove,
Of course he risked nothing, just like good ole dubya would risk nothing. they are only good at putting poor innocent men to there death in the casue of democracy.
but do they fight the battle nope, the just sit on the big fat hairy asses and talk a good war.
Tony Blair is a phoey a complete laughing stock. it HArd it believe a man (and i use that term very loosly) like that could be voted in after the death of the late John Smith. he was a man of principle and the labour party would not be in power if it wasnt for this man. He probably lie in his Grave on Iona turning in horror.
well thats what i think anyhow. just my opinion

Lord Huttons enquiry

September 1 2003, 2:24 PM

Shortly after the war in Iraq began David Gilligan, working for the BBC compiled an expose in which a source working for the MoD stated that The Government of the UK had "Sexed up" their reports to make it seem as though Saddams regime posed a gargantuan threat: That they could launch a Biological attack against the west in 45 minutes.
This is the report that led to Britts going to Gulf.

Doctor Kelly was revealed to be the source by the MoD, and he has since commited suicide. After Dr Kelly was found dead from apparent suicide Lord Hutton has opened an enquiry into the matter. The results thus far:

Dr Kelly was a source in David Gilligans report, but his comments were taken out of context by the BBC.
The MoD under orders from Downing street may have sexed up the documents in question.
The Government was responsible for ordering Kellys name to be revealed. This along with a telivised enquiry into the original documents led to his mental state decaying.

Mr Blair, and members of his government have given evidence. As has Mrs Kelly, and her daughter.

If it is found that Downing Street "Fudged" the evidence regarding to Sadams weapons of destruction then an alarming possibility exhists: There was no LEGAL reason for the UK or indeed the US to invade Iraq. Dr Kelly, and hundreds of Iraqi civilians, british soldiers, and 49 British Military Police Officers have died for a war that had no real foundation.
