I have a few barrettes that have springs in them. I am not sure if that is what it is called but the clasp clicks together and a piece of metal is pushed into the barrette to hold the hair. I have these foam things that look like pipe insulation but fit around the spring of the barrette. It is suppose to keep the spring from breaking hair. My questions are:

1. Is this safe? I haven't had any problems, but should I dare keep it up?
2. If they are, where can I get more of them? I got these at Ulta and have not been able to find them again.
3. If not, how can I wear the barrettes without breaking my hair?

Thanks bunch ya'll.
