My hair thinks its Houdini: it can get out of anything! But, I can wear the hairforks by themselves and they will stay most of the day (4-6 hours). They don't stay quite as well as hairsticks, but they stay better than bobby type pins for certain.
To use the forks, be sure to make a tight bun and then weave the fork in just as you do a stick. My daughter who has thicker and less slick hair than I can wear her bun loose and the fork will stay 12 hours or more!
I also use my forks as jewelry when I wear french braids.
