I'm very surprised that you didn't like this movie. Regarding your comments:
"...bland violence awash in a sea of Hollywood BS"
"...No real plot..."
"...no historical value..."
"...inaccurate representation of what really happened..."
Can't figure out how you could label it as bland. Real people fighting for their lives should be anything but bland.
The plot was a real life struggle for survival. If anything, the plot was the strong point of the film.
The historical value is very significant. It showed the world that Americans have a weak stomach for death to its soldiers. Some historians argue that this event lead up to the WTC attacks. Al Queda believed that it could draw America into a conflict and when Americans saw their boys dieing on TV, they would leave in defeat. Very historically significant, I'd say!
The movie was adapted from the book by Mark Bowden. Mark was very thorough in his research, interviewing the actual soldiers and reviewing military documents. The movie is a very close adaptation of the book, getting the endorsement from the soldiers who were involved in the fight. Very accurate movie!
Never heard anyone knock the movie for its accuracy or lack of historical impact. Think you might be barking up the wrong tree. There are other reasons that you could possibly knock the film, but not for those you listed. |
