Question about slippers

January 14 2007, 6:13 PM

Is that just a regular pressure plate?

No it has counter weights on the fingers. So that gives it centrifical force. For example spring pressure can be 2000 lbs at idle. Then with the added weight on the fingers at 6500rpm it can have a plate load of up to 5000 lbs.

Will all that fit in a regular bellhousing or is there a special bellhousing?

The one I do fits in the stock depth lakewood bellhousings. So there is no expensive bellhousing or can needed.

After you install one you don't use the clutch pedal like you used to? Only to get it into gear. Then from what I gather you just step on the gas ? I think that is a video of your truck pulling? It seems like you have a lot of RPM at the start, yes?

Yes that is my truck video. On the pedal deal you still use it just the same. But you will feel as you hold it down and you start bringin the rpm up.It will push against your foot but you will stil have control of it.Then all you do is slide it out till you feel you are hooked and running.

Hey travis, We have been running a mccloud double disk for a long time at 5500-5800 lbs. and have it set up pretty well. The little truck runs in a 4000 lb class and we havent gotten the setup right yet. What spacing and weights would you recommend.
By the way, is a three disk setup much better than a two?

re slipper

With the Crower do you still have a pedal? I was under the impression that you no longer used it. Also when using a multi disc setup, do you need to make any changes to the input shaft? Seems like the splines wouldn't be long enough for the second and third disc's.

The input shaft will work on a double disk, and i assume a three disk as well.

one prob

January 14 2007, 10:01 PM

i have run into, was that we needed a thicker midplate, because with a thin one, or none, it would lock up when the bolts were draw tight on the tranny. Don't know why, I think the clutch was getting pushed to far back into were the shaft run out of splines, maybe a one off, at first we just put washers between the tranny and bellhousing.

Ok the one that you dont use pedal is the crower glide. The input shaft is fine when you use it on the dual disc setup. The dual disc I build for most is a 10.5 inch. This helps clear everything and you can use the stock depth lakewood bellhousing. But you must run a block saver with the bellhousing.

So you have been running it in a 5500-5800lbs class and now a 4000lbs class. What rpm are you leaving the line at and can you still hold the pedal down or does it creep off on you.If that is the case you need to remove the weight on the fingers to let it slip more out of the hole. How many weights do you have on each finger now.

Ok, I have to show my ignorance (again). What is a block saver?

block saver

January 15 2007, 12:49 PM

The block saver goes between the engine and bellhousing.

OK

I've heard them called mid plates, so "block saver" is new to me.

What does that baby cost or was that figured in the price that you already gave me?

Thanks,

we have em made

January 15 2007, 4:30 PM

but add some tabs on each side to set o the frame, so it can be bolted to the truck. I think NTPA rules require it to be attched, in some manner so if the eng trns connection is broken, they wont fall down, something like that.

We are leaving between 5 and 65 depending on the track. You can still hold the pedal, but when I start releasing the clutch it just kind of grabs, cant get much slip out of it. More spacers?
